When plein air painting I enjoy finding unsuspecting views, unique angles and interesting compositions. In this painting I found the combination of colorful coastal grasses, a sandy beach and salt water pools to be an interesting contrast to the dockside village restaurants in the background. To paint this watercolor I was standing on a sandy beach attempting to avoid the rising tide while avoiding several passing rain clouds. Plein air painting is both inspiring and exciting.
